China’s on-going healthcare reforms and internationalization bring both opportunities and challenges for the healthcare industry. With increasing marketization and capitalization of this industry, there is increasing need for professional managers with both global vision and local insight. Professional managers in healthcare industry are required to understand the duality of healthcare industry: being both public service-oriented and profit-seeking. Backed by scholars from HKU medical school and the healthcare industry in Hong Kong, the programme is designed to help senior executives in China’s healthcare industry to be successful leaders in a fast-changing and complex healthcare landscape.

With both leading scholars and professional leaders the faculty team, as well as an overseas module through the partnership with Medical School, the programme equips students with both global vision and local insight which are key for success in today’s economy.
Critical Issues in Senior Management
With a specific focus on the lasted development of healthcare management, the programme will address critical issues that senior management have to deal with (i.e., healthcare innovation, operation management, legal regulation, leadership, crisis management, digitalization, investment and finance), aiming to equip students with essential tools for senior management in healthcare-related institutions.

Internationally-recognized Certificate
Students who completed all required modules and passed all assessments will be awarded the “Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management”, a postgraduate qualification recognized by countries across the world, which include but not limited to United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, Australia, Sweden, South Africa, India, Chile, Brazil, Singapore.
This programme is designed for senior management staff from various healthcare related institutions, including but not limited to public and private hospitals, government agencies, pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, insurance and managed care organizations.
The programme aims to train executives in healthcare organizations with new ideas and concepts for managing modern hospital or healthcare organization. Students will receive systematic and professional training about healthcare management. From a strategic perspective, they have to consider the current problems and challenges in healthcare management. They can also master the knowledge of modern management and leadership skills required for this industry.
On completion of the programme, students should be able to
- Analyse the internal and external environment for the healthcare industry and develop strategies to meet the needs of healthcare reform and social development;
- Establish the vision for healthcare organization, plan and execute its competitive strategic plans;
- Establish an effective management system to allocate and use limited resources to stimulate profitability;
- Use information resources and economics analysis method to improve leadership decision-making;
- Implement quality control for hospital or other healthcare organization and improve crisis management skills;
- Use commercial frontiers knowledge to establish a good relationship with various business partners and the community internally and externally.

Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management
Students who successfully completed the non-credit bearing module "Residential Workshop", and all the assessment of the 9 credit-bearing modules, will be awarded the certificate “Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management”.

In order to encourage ICB and SEA alumni to practice the concept of "lifelong learning" and move toward higher career goals, SEA will set up the "ICB and SEA Alumni Lifelong Learning Scholarship" (HK$30,000 for each eligible alumni) to support continuous breakthroughs and excellence, and continue their studies and pursue a series of executive courses offered by SEA in conjunction with the world's top educational institutions such as Cambridge University Business School and KEDGE Business School. |
